Osborne House

Historic Site, Isle of Wight

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's Italianate seaside palace near East Cowes, built in the 1840s. The house preserves the private apartments, the state rooms, the Swiss Cottage where the royal children played, and the terraced gardens running down to a private beach on the Solent. Victoria died here in 1901. Managed by English Heritage, it is one of the most important royal residences in England.
